The air in Sori, Nyatike Sub-county, buzzed with excitement as they welcomed Her Excellency Ambassador Antonia, the venerable UN Women Ambassador, alongside the brilliant Dr. Senorita from India. Their visit was not just an honour, but a powerful affirmation of the work Sheila and her team are tirelessly building at the grassroots.The highlight of their visit was, of course, the opportunity to showcase Sheila's beloved Omena project and Fish Factory in Sori. As they walked through the facilities, Sheila spoke with immense pride about their commitment to the Blue Economy, emphasizing how they are not merely processing fish, but actively driving local value addition and significant social impact. She explained how their efforts are creating sustainable livelihoods, particularly for women, who are at the heart of their operations – from the local fisherfolk who supply them to the women involved in processing, packaging, and distribution. The guests' keen interest and insightful questions were truly encouraging, validating the vision that has drawn Sheila back to Migori. It was a moment of profound connection, sharing the tangible results of dedication and community effort.
